Top Instagram-Worthy Spots on the San Diego Coast

San Diego is one of the most Instagram-worthy destinations in the country. With gorgeous, long stretches of beachfront, historic architecture, eclectic attractions and beautiful gardens, visitors discover plenty to post on Instagram, which lets you share your adventures with family, friends and followers.

Mission Beach/Mission Bay

Once of the most well-known images in Mission Bay is the Giant Dipper roller coaster at Belmont Park, an historic seaside amusement park. The park has continued operation since 1925. The Giant Dipper was built as the center star attraction of the Park. The 2,600-foot-long coaster underwent a renovation in 1989 and re-opened in 1990. Take a ride, then post a photo.

Book a stay in Mission Beach in a Bluewater Vacation Homes luxury rental. Capture plenty of Insta-worthy shots from the Pacific Dream Penthouse, which offers 3 bedrooms with panoramic ocean and coastal views from a rooftop balcony that overlooks the Mission Beach boardwalk.

Sunset Cliffs/Ocean Beach

Located between Ocean Beach and Point Loma, the bluffs at Sunset Cliffs Natural Park offer breathtaking views of the ocean, as well as tidal pools and rugged shoreline. It’s a short hike, though there is some challenging terrain. This is a #NoFilter needed spot to capture the sunset, but any time of the day you’ll get Insta-worthy shots.

Nearby Cabrillo National Monument at Point Loma also makes a great stop for Instagrammers.  The Monument is named for Juan Rodriguez Cabrillo, a 16th century explorer. The two-mile Bayside Trail gives hikers a spectacular views of San Diego Bay and the city. Fall is the perfect time to visit the Tidepools to capture unique shots for your feed. Shoot photos at the Old Point Lighthouse, built in the 1800s and beautifully restored.

If you time things just right in La Jolla Shores, you can snap a photo of the the sun setting directly between the legs of the underside of the Scripps Pier. Of course, any time of day makes an iconic shot through the pier pilings.

Rising more than 800 feet from the ocean, the cross at the Mt. Soledad National Veterans Memorial in La Jolla is one of the most iconic landmarks in the area. The “wow” factor for Instagram increases substantially at sunrise or sunset. The site also offers panoramic views of La Jolla, San Diego and Mexico.

For Insta-worthy accommodations stay at Water’s Edge, a prime oceanfront location with 5-bedrooms and 5.5 baths. Perched atop the bluffs, this property sits directly on the ocean and offers gorgeous views from its spacious terraces. For a smaller property, book Windansea Surfside One, a 2-bedroom property with balcony views of the Pacific Ocean just steps from Windansea Beach.

Pacific Beach
