San Diego is one of the great ocean-side playgrounds! So take advantage of all its natural amenities with some outdoor adventure during your next visit. We’ve put together a list of five of our favorites to enjoy on your San Diego vacation.
Like to bike? Experience San Diego on a Fly Ride. Cyclists 15 and over can book one of Fly Ride’s tours or rent a bike and take off on your own. Tours explore sites like coastal La Jolla or the Torrey Pines bike with its rolling hills. On an electric bike, cyclists take the hills with no problems. Have a blast touring the city on two wheels.
Learn to surf! There’s a ton of surf shops in Mission Beach and Ocean Beach that offer lessons including the Mission Beach Surfing School, Surfari Surf School, San Diego Surf Lessons, Surf Diva and Pacific Surf School. The beaches of San Diego offer some of the best waves anywhere for learning to surf, and knowledgeable instructors can get you up on a board in no time.
Take flight at the Torrey Pines Gliderport with a tandem hang gliding adventure or by learning to paraglide. Experience the exhilarating thrill of flying and learn from experienced pilots who train students seven days a week.
Zipline! Take the entire family with La Jolla Zip Zoom. The two-hour tour takes you over the La Jolla Indian Reservation via four courses ranging in length from 300 to more than 2,700 feet. With speeds up to 55 mph, it’s a heart-pounding adventure. Share it with a family member or friend thanks to the side-by-side lines.
Hike and swim! Get out into the countryside with a hike to Cedar Creek Falls. A seasonal waterfall plunges 80 feet into a deep swimming hole known as the Devils Punchbowl. It’s a fairly strenuous three-mile trail that winds through the hills of east San Diego County. Winter, spring, and fall are great times to explore the trail. Bring water and sunblock for this advanced hike.
