For old-fashioned, beachfront fun check out Belmont Park, a boardwalk and amusement park on Mission Beach. Or make a splash at Legoland Water Park with its Build-A-Raft River, water flumes, huge slides, a Joker Soaker and Splash Safari, featuring slides for youngsters under 6.
For a time-traveling adventure, climb aboard The USS Midway Museum, featuring the aircraft carrier that served in the sub-Arctic, Atlantic, North Vietnam and Persian Gulf. As the main attraction, the aircraft carrier has 60 restored exhibits/areas – from the engine room to the flight deck. But there’s more to the Midway Museum, including more than 30 restored aircraft from World War II including jets and helicopters. Kids love the climb-in aircraft, ejection seats, cockpits and flight simulators!
Located in downtown near the Marina District and Gaslamp Quarter, the Midway Museum offers spectacular views of San Diego Bay and the skyline from the upper decks. Looking for some spring flowers to chase away the winter blues? Check out The Flower Fields in Carlsbad, which opens March 1. Each year, these rolling hills of North San Diego County are transformed with spectacular, colorful displays of Giant Tecolote Ranunculus flowers. The Flower Fields bloom from March 1 through May 12, and are a great way to celebrate the arrival of spring. Visitors walk designated paths or can take tractor wagon rides through the fields at a nominal fee.
